Phare Ponleu Selpak

IGE had the pleasure of spending one week in Battambang, Cambodia, working with the Performing Arts School. We offered drama workshops for their Theatre, Circus and Traditional Dance students. A local translator facilitated IGE’s work on effective, creative storytelling with students ranging from 9-23 years old.

International Girls Ensemble imagines a continued, fruitful relationship with Phare Ponleu Selpak and we will return in the near future.

Phare Ponleu Selpak is a non-profit Arts School meaning "Brightness of the Arts". It launched in the refugee camps on the Thai-Cambodian border with arts classes for children overcoming the displacement traumas of The Khmer Rouge. In the past the school has massively grown; it continues to offer free education and family support to over 1,000 children and families annually. PPS is a stellar example of Art Education’s vital importance in rebuilding Cambodian community.
