Phare Ponleu Selpak
Phare Ponleu Selpak is a non-profit Arts School meaning "Brightness of the Arts" finding it's start in the refugee camps on the Thai-Cambodian boarder with arts classes for children over coming the traumas of The Khemer Rouge and displacement. In the past years the school has massively grown, continuing to offer free education and family support to over 1,000 children and families each year. PPS is an incredible example of the importance of Arts Education and continued selfless help for the children of Cambodia.
IGE had the pleasure of spending one week in Battambang, Cambodia, working with the Performing Arts School offering drama workshops for their Theatre, Circus and Traditional Dance students. Working with a translator IGE worked on effective creative storytelling with students ranging from 9-23 years old.
International Girls Ensemble looks forward to a continued relationship with Phare Ponleu Selpak and to return next year to continue to work with both it's incredible students and community members.
